Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. Every lab test does require a requisition from a healthcare provider. If you have a MedNexus Health requisition, you can book your sample collection directly. A requisition from another doctor can also be used; administrative fees of $25.99 may apply. If you don’t have a requisition, book a Laboratory Testing Consultation: our nurse practitioner reviews your needs and issues a MedNexus requisition.

Who reviews my tests?

Our nurse practitioner reviews your tests during your Laboratory Testing Consultation, before your sample is collected.

Which assessment is right for me?

Not sure where to start? These three assessments increase in depth: Essential (core annual screening), Comprehensive (deeper wellness assessment) and Longevity (broadest preventive assessment). Each assessment page explains who it’s for and what it looks at.

Can I add a test to an assessment?

Some laboratory tests are better selected individually or added to an assessment based on your needs. The Comprehensive Wellness Assessment lists Free T3 as an available add-on. Ask your provider: they decide which tests are right for you and can add them to your requisition.

I have a requisition. Can I use it at MedNexus?

If it’s a MedNexus Health requisition, yes: your doctor or nurse practitioner is enrolled with MedNexus, so you can book your sample collection directly ($20, plus the cost of your tests). If it’s from another doctor or the public system, you can use it too; administrative fees of $25.99 may apply.

Do I need to fast?

Yes, if your assessment includes fasting glucose, fasting insulin, or cortisol testing. In that case, please consume only water for at least 8 hours before your blood draw. At MedNexus Health in Moncton, fasting blood collections are done between 8 and 10 a.m. Each assessment page lists the tests it includes.

What should I bring?

Bring your health card and your requisition. If your requisition is from a healthcare provider outside MedNexus Health, please also bring government-issued photo ID.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. At MedNexus Health in Moncton, fasting blood collections are done between 8 and 10 a.m.

How long until I get my results?

Most results are available within 1–5 business days of your collection. If external testing is needed, it may take longer than 5 business days.

How will I receive them?

Your results are available in your patient portal.

What if a result is abnormal?

A laboratory test does not replace a medical assessment. If a result is abnormal, our team will contact you to book a follow-up appointment with your provider to review it and plan next steps. This follow-up is required for abnormal results. If your results are normal, no follow-up appointment is needed.

Can my results be sent to my family doctor?

Yes. With your consent, relevant notes and results can be shared with your regular healthcare provider.

How much do assessments cost?

Assessments range from $175 to $409. Each price is listed on the assessment’s page. Collection fees are not included.

Is there a fee for the review or the collection?

With a MedNexus Health requisition, our collection fee is $20, plus the cost of your tests. Without a requisition, the Laboratory Testing Consultation with our nurse practitioner is $75, plus the cost of your tests; if your sample is collected during an in-person appointment, there’s no collection fee. At partner collection centres, the collection fee is set and charged by the centre. Administrative fees of $25.99 may apply.

Are tests covered by Medicare?

MedNexus Health is a private clinic and does not bill New Brunswick Medicare. Patients pay for their tests and services directly, and an itemized receipt is provided for private insurance.

Can I claim with private insurance?

An itemized receipt will be provided and may be submitted to the private insurance provider for possible reimbursement where eligible.

How is my information kept private?

Your personal and medical information is confidential. Our clinic and laboratory follow New Brunswick’s Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act (PHIPAA). With your permission, it is shared with your family doctor and/or referring doctor when needed for your care. It is never disclosed to third parties without your permission.
